1. Context

Daniel BAUMGARTNER is a lecturer at the University of Strasbourg. He teaches at the École nationale supérieure de physique de Strasbourg, where he is responsible for the Engineering and Physical Sciences of Life option. He is also a researcher at the Strasbourg Institute of Fluid and Solid Mechanics.

In modern means of transport such as the car, train, plane, or even two-wheelers like the motorcycle or bicycle, the human body can be subjected to extreme stresses for which evolution has not equipped it with natural protection systems. Indeed, the human being is not "naturally" designed or adapted to absorb several hundred times the acceleration of gravity, even when applied for only a few milliseconds. It is therefore necessary to develop "artificial" protection systems capable of protecting any potentially exposed segment...
