1. Computer-assisted medical and surgical procedures: from bone to soft tissue

The acronym GMCAO (Gestes Médico-Chirurgicaux Assistés par Ordinateur) was introduced in the late 1980s to name one of the research teams of the TIMC-IMAG laboratory at the University of Grenoble; today it is part of the terminology of the biomedical community .
