Medical imaging is a form of imaging like many others, you might think. However, it differs in two essential respects. From a technical point of view, they are techniques that enable us to see inside tissues, and the penetrating power of the radiation used is their essential property, whether it be electromagnetic or acoustic waves (endoscopy being a remarkable exception).
On the other hand, the radiologist's attention is focused on human beings, and their health depends on the accuracy of his diagnosis. The precision of the surgeon's actions will be greatly facilitated by the relevance of the images made available to him, both for planning the procedure and for carrying it out later.
