2. Weight and balance scales

2.1 Parameter definition

The criterion of involuntary weight loss is obviously not easy to supply objectively for tracking purposes, as it is difficult, if not impossible, to remember the actual weight six months or a year ago, especially for people in a fragile phase. On the other hand, for monitoring purposes, any communicating scale is capable of supplying weight values to a collection and recording system. Applications already exist for voluntary weight control coaching. When monitoring frail elderly people, we simply need to be vigilant about the involuntary nature of weight loss, as a gradual reduction is always a warning sign to be taken into account.
