5. Fields of application
Given zirconia's special and remarkable physical properties in thermal, electrical, mechanical and chemical terms, applications are many and varied, involving one property or another as the case may be. However, the two most frequently used properties are thermal and ionic conductivity.
5.1 Using ionic conductivity
Zirconia is an undisputed and unavoidable base material today in many applications requiring materials with good ionic conductivity, such as those relating to fuel cells, oxygen sensors, electrochemical oxygen pumps.
