5. Conclusion

In this article, we have set out to provide an overview of the main limitations affecting the conversion and yield of chemical reactions.

This presentation takes a simple approach to these fundamental aspects for the chemist, illustrated by a few theoretical examples, which will help the reader to better understand the more detailed results in the literature or that he or she can obtain personally.

This article does not deal with the specific details of operation and performance of the different types of reactors (heterogeneous catalytic reactions, gas-liquid or liquid-liquid flows), reactor-separators, or microwave-activated reactors and associated applications.
