7. Conclusion

In this article, we have highlighted some of the potential applications of simulation and optimization tools for batch plants. These techniques can be used to meet the complex, numerous and often contradictory requirements (cost, respect for the environment, limiting energy consumption, safety, etc.) faced by practitioners.

In practical terms, they can be used to provide a rapid solution to "what if" scenarios. In this way, we can carry out precise analyses of capacity, respect for the time horizon, and propose solutions to reduce solvent input....

The illustrations used in this presentation confirm that such tools can be used at various stages of the product life cycle, notably during process design, production recipe definition, workshop configuration, or even during the operating phases or eventual redesign.
