The field of cosmetics is a vast one, encompassing products intended for contact with the superficial parts of the body. At the crossroads between cosmetics and dermatology are dermo-cosmetic products. Through their actions on the skin, scalp and hair, they help preserve health and beauty by responding to skin pathologies. Dermo-cosmetic agents are considered to be cosmetic products, and are therefore subject to the same regulations. Some manufacturers, however, try to differentiate themselves by proving the activities claimed for their products using tests similar to those used in the pharmaceutical field.
