Fossil fuels are in finite supply on earth, and are not being renewed at the rate we consume them. They will therefore become scarce and expensive. But that's not the only concern. Indeed, to recover or produce energy, to transform and use it, we need systems that are made from materials that consume mineral resources. Today's technologies are increasingly sophisticated and consume a lot of mineral resources. Consequently, it is not certain that there will be enough in the future for all applications
