1. Perception of the road environment: a necessity for new forms of mobility

The road environment is a complex ecosystem bringing together users (drivers, pedestrians, cyclists), mobility technologies (vehicles, sensors, driver assistance algorithms), physical and digital infrastructure (roads, smart traffic lights, communication networks), and transportation services.

This ecosystem relies on the interaction between these elements to optimize mobility, whether personal, shared, or collective. It relies on appropriate infrastructure, including roads, parking lots, and digital networks such as 5G and V2X (communication between the ego-vehicle and other vehicles, infrastructure, and vulnerable road users (VRUs)).
