Today, railway projects are governed by texts (decrees, orders, etc.) and standards (CENELEC 50126, 50129 and 50128) designed to define and achieve certain FMDS objectives (reliability, maintainability, availability and safety). The three standards cover all aspects of safety from the system down to the hardware and/or software component.
