4. Conclusion
Today, there are many ways to produce alternative jet fuels, from both fossil and renewable resources. Seven of these are approved for use under ASTM D7566, but must always be used in a blend, generally 50%, with jet fuel of fossil origin. To achieve this result and guarantee the safe use of these products, an original certification process had to be put in place, leading to the definition of a specific standard: ASTM D4054. This process was, at first, long and costly: several years and several million dollars were required. Thanks to our accumulated experience, time and costs have been significantly reduced. What's more, a fast-track procedure exists, enabling an alternative fuel to be brought to market quickly if its chemical formula is close to that of an already-approved jet fuel.
