3.1 Propulsion and power train

There are 1,500 kW turboprop engines on the market that have been converted to hydrogen and have been running on test benches for several years.

This conversion was accompanied by several changes:

  • the combustion chamber is shortened;

  • tubular injectors are replaced by circular injectors of the rocket engine type;

  • mechanical lubrication is enhanced and regulated;

  • The combustion point is maintained at a constant speed by the FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) in order to prevent the formation of nitrogen oxides (greenhouse gases).
