5. Conclusion: the digitalization of the maritime industry

The digitization of the maritime sector has been underway for several decades, and accelerated in the mid-2010s. As a result, the sector can count on the growing availability of data and an academic and industrial fabric enabling it to make a digital transition in its activity, to the benefit of other transitions (ecological, economic and energy).

Harnessing the maritime "ocean of data", the main machine learning techniques are enabling the development of new uses and services, particularly in the following areas:
