3. Characteristics relating to their propulsion

The characteristics associated with propulsion are mainly used for the design of nautical accesses, during navigation simulations, and for assessing the impact of propulsion on port structures in terms of scouring and the design of associated protections.

Companies specializing in navigation simulation already have digital models of the ships they use in their simulations. In contrast, port engineers often have little information about the characteristics associated with ship propulsion, the impact of which they must assess on the port structures they are responsible for designing. The purpose of this section is therefore to detail the propulsion characteristics that are useful for assessing these impacts and designing the associated protection solutions.
