1. Rotating electrical machines for embedded applications

This section gives an overview of the main structures of rotating machines used in electric propulsion applications, but does not cover the theory of these machines, which is described elsewhere in dedicated articles in Techniques de l'Ingénieur.

The power range considered extends from a hundred kilowatts to ten megawatts ( [D 5 610] , § 1).

In electric propulsion, the rotating machine is a key element in terms of mass, size and continuity of service.

Aspects relating to converter-machine adaptations are dealt with in Section 3.
