5. A multifaceted approach

As a technical activity serving an economic purpose, freight transport is of interest to engineers and managers alike. The present Transport section takes account of these two inseparable dimensions, both in the choice of sections and in the authors responsible for them (see Pour en savoir plus).

Necessarily, each mode of transport is the subject of a separate article. Road, rail and other technologies continue to shape the world of transport, from economic, professional, and even social and political angles: most companies are dedicated to one mode or another, and a railway worker is not an aviator.
