8. Our advice

8.1 Keep it simple but effective

Least squares regression (LSR) may be the most widely used regression, but it's still the most simplistic. If you have no other choice, remember to include the standard deviation Sy / x in your overall uncertainty ( U lin ). This standard deviation can be obtained using Excel's "Droitereg" function; it models the linearity and residual error generated by the chosen model (see figure S y/x = 1.60 on the left and 0.20 on the right).
