8. Conclusion

The Simplex method and its derivatives are well suited to optimization in fields as diverse as analytical engineering, chemical synthesis, process engineering, biochemistry, bioengineering, mechanics, etc.

Already in the original publication by Spendley, Hext and Himsworth, the authors made it clear that this method evolves according to the principles of natural selection in living organisms, and is therefore well suited to the optimization of experimental systems.

In the original method, the simplex was intended to correspond to a regular figure. The various methods (MS, SMS, WCM, MM) plan to deform this regular figure, and as we have seen in this article, the authors of some applications did not adopt a regular construction for their various initial simplexes, and this did not prevent the simplex from progressing towards the desired optimum....
