6. NF, EN or ISO standardized methods

Various standardization bodies are responsible for selecting and proposing for standardization, i.e. writing down in a standardized format, analysis protocols that have been agreed by experts or specialists in the field. For mycotoxins, Afnor (Association française de normalisation, agroalimentaire sector), CEN (Comité européen de normalisation) and ISO (International standard organization) have standardized several analysis methods. Following a mutual recognition agreement at European level, standards published by CEN (EN standards) must be adopted by each member state of the European Union, and any existing national standard in the same field of analysis gives way to a published EN standard. ISO standards benefit from international recognition, but necessarily take longer to achieve (worldwide consultation of experts).
