3. Measuring control charts
Control by measurement concerns all measurable values. Its implementation requires knowledge of the standard deviation σ either historically, or by carrying out a minimum of 30 measurements. This type of chart can be used for a variety of purposes:
monitoring of measuring equipment using control standards (balance, HPLC);
process monitoring based on sample measurements (tablet mass, filling volume, temperature).
In the second case (process monitoring), it is essential to ensure that the measurement uncertainty of the process used to monitor the process has an uncertainty compatible with the dispersion of the process.
