 INTRODUCTION

The metrologist is confronted with many questions linked to the use of the data at his disposal. When assessing repeatability, he must ensure that the data he has collected are homogeneous. When comparing two means or two standard deviations, he must also take into account the fact that he is only handling estimates. For this reason, he must also consider the confidence intervals of the estimated parameters. Similarly, when deciding on conformity (comparison of an estimate with a limit), he must also consider the doubt associated with the estimate. This sheet describes the main tests required in the metrologist's day-to-day work.
