5. Conclusion

This article describes the principles of capillary electrophoresis. Numerous parameters, such as pH, ionic strength, electrolyte composition and analysis temperature, can be used to modify the electrophoretic and electroosmotic mobilities, and therefore the velocities of compounds, in order to optimize their separation. Mastering these factors is the key to developing analysis methods that are not only effective in terms of efficiency, resolution and analysis time, but also reproducible and robust. The diversity of separation methods available in capillary electrophoresis means that this single technique can be used to access different and complementary information for a given sample.
