 INTRODUCTION

The applications of thin layer chromatography (TLC) – – are manifold, as demonstrated by the number and diversity of international publications on the subject. Recently, a commission of the Société française des Sciences et Techniques pharmaceutiques, co-chaired by J. Rabiant and D. Pradeau, published the latest developments in planar chromatography, presenting numerous examples from a wide range of fields, including natural substances, container-content interactions, emergency toxicology in hospitals, trace detection of explosives after terrorist attacks and pharmaceutical products .
