3. Chemical reactions coupled with charge transfer and identification of reaction intermediates
Here we describe the application of voltammetric techniques (both in steady-state diffusion and pure diffusion regimes) to the analysis of chemical processes coupled with charge transfer reactions, taking into account, this time, the kinetics of charge transfer and coupled chemical reactions. Unlike the previous cases (action of acids and bases, and complex formation), we analyze the general case where not all reactions are fast (relative to the diffusion of the species involved).
The theoretical approaches used are those employed in the study of simple electronic transfers. They require the integration of diffusion equations, taking into account coupled chemical reactions (by introducing the rate and equilibrium constants of these coupled chemical reactions).
