3.1 System overview
The purpose of this example is to illustrate how the fault tree technique can be used to determine the minimum combinations of events that lead to the loss of a system's main function, based on a tree decomposition, and to determine the importance factors of the initiating events that lead to the dreaded event.
Consider a fire detection system in a production workshop with closed doors. It comprises :
a heat detection system;
a smoke detection system ;
a manually operated alarm system as shown in figure 25...
