3.1 Governance principles

To be fully meaningful and serve its purpose, the information system strategy must be in line with the company's overall strategy. It is equally important that the business units respect a number of commitments, to enable and guarantee alignment between the business units and the information system organization.

Governance is the combination of steering (making sure that today's decisions adequately prepare for tomorrow) and control (measuring the difference between what was planned and what is actually being done).
