8. Economic aspect

As a flowmeter with a depressurizing element consumes a certain amount of pumping energy, it is good practice to evaluate the annual cost of this energy and compare it with the investment savings achieved by choosing such an instrument rather than a flowmeter based on another principle, which consumes less energy but is more expensive to purchase. This economic calculation is in fact quite complex, since in addition to this direct operating cost, we need to take into account factors such as installation costs, maintenance costs, comparative availability, target accuracy and resulting production gains, tax depreciation, etc.

  • The purchase price of a deprimogen depends largely on its specifications, and in particular :

    • pipe diameter ;

    • type of device: diaphragm,...
