Turbidity; Turbidity
Cloudiness of a liquid, due to the presence of particles in suspension; content of suspended matter in a liquid. Turbidity is an optical characteristic of water, i.e. its ability to diffuse or absorb incident light. Turbidity is therefore a factor in water color. Turbidity is due to the presence in water of suspended mineral or organic particles, living or detrital. Thus, the more phytoplankton biomass or sediment particles a water contains, the more turbid it is.

Phenomenon whereby a drop of water, projected onto a very hot surface, takes on a spheroidal appearance and does not immediately volatilize, supported by the steam it emits.
