5. Conclusion and outlook

The combination of spatial separation and the use of multiple waves on each state leads to a new, simple and robust interferometer that has the qualities of both the Jamin and Fabry-Perot interferometers. This interferometer is ideally suited, for example, to studying the dynamics of a soap film, as it provides access to thickness and thickness gradient. Beyond the prototype made in the laboratory, a fineness of the order of 300 would enable us to achieve a resolution of 0.1 nm, i.e. an atomic dimension. With the Jamin-Fabry-Perot interferometer, a wide variety of transparent objects can be studied, such as biological membranes or objects in the field of nanoscience. With the quality of optical elements available today, performance can be greatly enhanced, opening the way to new applications in many fields.
