3. Complementary measures
These measurements make it possible to qualify a material, rather than a product as a whole, as we have seen up to now, through a physical characteristic that is important in acoustics.
3.1 Modulus of elasticity measurement
It can be useful to measure the modulus of elasticity E, or Young's modulus, of materials (for example, to determine a material's critical frequency or its impedance).
This means that the plates making up a wall have a "real" modulus of rigidity:
