8. Control of standardized specifications

If we analyze a measurement made on a CMM, the control procedure is essentially the same regardless of the software and CMM used:

  • the coordinates of the measured points obtained by estimating the position of each point of contact between a probe and the surface of the part to be inspected;

  • association of ideal geometric elements such as planes, spheres, cylinders, cones, straight lines, circles, ellipses, etc. with the various sets of measured points;

  • creation of a geometric database in which the associated geometric elements are represented by their intrinsic parameters and by just three types of geometric elements: point, line and plane;

  • database enrichment through the creation of new geometric elements of the point, line or plane type,...
