1. Random vibrations and energy. Quadratic response estimators

SEA is a method of formulating vibratory exchanges between coupled dynamic systems in the form of a power balance. An historical overview of methodological developments is given in Box 1.

SEA analysis works only on responses to random excitations. Most of the entities introduced into the theory are quadratic operators, from which the rms values of the quantities concerned and their spectral decomposition are deduced.
