8. Appendix. Equipment marking

Standards EN 50014 and 50020, as well as Directive 94/9/EC, contain requirements for the marking that equipment must bear. These requirements are not identical and lead to a two-part marking which can be combined.

  • The standards require marking to include :

    • the name of the manufacturer or its registered trademark;

    • the manufacturer's type designation ;

    • the EEx symbol (certifying compliance with European standards) ;

    • the symbol for each protection mode used ;

    • group symbol and subdivision ;

    • the temperature class symbol ;

    • a production number ;

    • the name or abbreviation...
