6. Dielectric suit testers

6.1 Prescribed measurement conditions

The purpose of these devices is to check that electrical equipment has been designed to tolerate overvoltages between internal circuits and the external enclosure in contact with the user, which may be introduced by the network supplying them or generated by switching off inductive loads connected in parallel to the same network. This resistance to overvoltages is achieved, on the one hand, by sufficiently dimensioning the creepage distances and distances in the air and, on the other hand, by using solid insulators of sufficient quality.
