3. Conclusion and outlook

As we have just seen, measurement technology based on Bragg gratings has a number of advantages, not least their sensitivity and linearity of response to the parameters required by users (temperature, deformation, pressure, etc.), and the multiplexing possibilities offered by the finesse of the gratings. In addition to the traditional properties provided by optical fibers (electro-magnetic immunity, low weight and small dimensions, resistance to harsh environments, etc.), Bragg grating measurement has the decisive advantage (over other optical methods) of being able to be referenced in an absolute manner, and therefore making it possible to disconnect and reconnect sensors or the measurement system, without requiring recalibration (unlike interferometric measurements, for example) since the spectral measurement is a "signature" independent of intensity fluctuations.
