3. Activities

The CIE's technical activities are divided into seven divisions, each with some twenty technical committees. These are overseen by a Council comprising the Officers and Division Directors. The divisions each cover specific fields, ranging from fundamental issues to all types of lighting application. Every four years, a plenary session reviews the work of the divisions and technical committees, reports on it and sets out plans for the future.

  • Division 1: vision and color

    Study visual reactions to light and establish standardized response functions, models and specification procedures for photometry, colorimetry, color rendering, visual performance and visual appreciation of light and lighting.
