4.1 Representation of the wheel output speed field

To try and understand how simple flow distortion can generate pressures as great as those required to create the fundamental noise, let's take the case of a centrifugal pump for which the flow velocity field shown in figure 10 has been measured with a laser velocimeter at 5% beyond the outer radius r 2 of the impeller.
