2. Corporate social responsibility
The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) originated in the United States in the 1950s. Its emergence in Europe is more recent. In Europe, CSR is part of a political context designed to generalize and apply the principles of sustainable development within companies. According to the European Commission's definition: "CSR is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business activities and in their relations with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis"
