6. Conclusion

Thanks to its theoretical underpinnings inspired by Petri nets, Umberto ® can be used to build AFME models of infinitely diverse systems. Its modeling functionalities make it possible to tackle complex systems, at different levels of aggregation, and to take non-linear phenomena into account. Umberto ® can be used to model the life cycles of products and services, industrial processes and sites, supply chains and territories.

In the software, these flow models serve as the basis for technical (process optimization), economic (cost analysis) and environmental (such as LCA and carbon footprint) analyses, facilitated by the integration of LCI databases. These different analyses enable the identification of ways to improve energy and environmental performance and reduce costs....
