6. Conclusion

The construction of a grain storage facility is complex, with a multitude of criteria to be taken into account, both in terms of product preservation and the prevention of industrial and occupational hazards.

This article details the various criteria and, for the main requirements, highlights the advantages and disadvantages of each of the most common solutions that can be implemented.

Since the average life of a silo is around fifty years, it is important to have a list of the cost items to be included in order to estimate the equipment's operating and maintenance costs. This list can be applied to any type of silo, enabling a precise assessment of a plant's depreciation period.
