1. Energy efficiency and the food industry

1.1 Energy Efficiency Directive

The European directive on energy end-use efficiency and energy services (2006/32/EC of April 5, 2006) was published on April 27, 2006. This directive requires member states to draw up national action plans to achieve energy savings in the supply, distribution and retailing of electricity, natural gas, district heating and other energy products. These national plans must be approved by the Commission and will be reviewed every three years [1] .
