1.1 Consumption trends

From the Latin insectum, meaning "cut into pieces" or "notched", the word evokes arthropods in which there are three distinct body parts, cut into three segments, such as the thorax, head and abdomen. Derived from the word entomos, meaning "insect", and phagos, meaning "eater" in Greek, entomophagy therefore refers to eating insects.
