3. Equipment

The four main components of industrial microwave equipment are [1] :

• the generator, which converts electrical energy into microwave radiation;

• the waveguide, which transfers microwave energy from the generator to the application enclosure;

• elements for adapting microwaves to the load and protecting the magnetron;

• the application chamber, or applicator, which enables products to be treated by microwaves.
