7. Vehicles and infrastructure: mutual expectations

For decades, the world of the automotive industry and that of road operators have been relatively compartmentalized, with the main point of contact being the tire-to-pavement interface, i.e. between the tire and road industries.

7.1 The "legible" road

As we have seen, to improve safety and mobility, vehicles need precise knowledge of road conditions, which road operators can provide with road information. Conversely, road operators are looking for low-cost data collection solutions, which manufacturers can provide with tracer vehicles.
