3.1 Standards and regulations
Over the past 20 years, advances in powertrains have been offset by a 30% increase in vehicle weight (for safety and comfort). Today, market segmentation is moving towards larger vehicles (SUVs, crossovers). The plunge of diesel, correlated with atmospheric pollution (sometimes with dubious arguments), is crippling the new and then used car markets. As a result of these various factors, CO 2 emissions are tending to rise again....
