2. ELU and their diversity

To link producers to consumers, equipment is needed to recompose flows. Depending on their place in the logistics chain, these tools have different locations, sizes and roles.

• Two types of platform

  A general distinction is made between :

  • kinetic" platforms, which enable packaging and means of transport to be adjusted to the needs of moving goods;

  • static" platforms – where the marketing operations (storage, terminal assembly, order preparation, etc.) essential to the marketing of the goods concerned and to optimizing the cost/quality of service ratio are carried out.
