Prevention

A set of measures to be taken to prevent a situation from deteriorating, or an accident from occurring. Prevention is based on avoiding negative disturbances or reducing their probability.

Protection

A set of measures designed to limit the negative effects of disturbances when they occur, for example by implementing noise and vibration mitigation measures.
