The CO 2 is transported, sometimes over several hundred kilometers, to a geological storage site. Transporting CO 2 poses no particular problems and is already commonly practiced. Transporting CO 2 can be envisaged by tanker (road, rail or sea) or by pipeline, but the large volumes involved in a capture/storage scheme seem to favor the pipeline option for large-scale CO 2 transport.
