6. Conclusion

In conclusion, environmental regulations are no exception to the complexity of French law.

It is true that the policy of simplification has led to the modernization of environmental law, and the reforms introduced in recent years have led to the implementation of one-stop-shop procedures. This is notably the case for environmental authorizations, which bring together multiple environmental authorizations under a single procedure. This is an interesting approach, as it follows a period of experimentation in certain regions, made possible by the Constitution, and results in a reduction in procedural timeframes.

However, the European Union ensures that directives are correctly and faithfully transposed; as a result, ministerial authorities are obliged to modify texts or procedures in order to comply, which can sometimes lead to new complexities....
